Wedding cake portions are based on a measurement of 1" x 1" (finger servings). If you would like 1" x 2" pieces (dessert servings) then roughly halve the number of portions.  If you only have a small gathering but still want a wedding cake that is substantial, then a "dummy" cake can be added.  For example, if you only need a 2-tier cake, you can have a third false tier at the top to give your cake height and more presence. If you require additional cake but not the expense, then a "kitchen" cake can be made which is not on display  but taken to the kitchen and sliced and served with the rest of the wedding cake.

TIERED CAKES:

The table below refers to round cakes with the most conventional size configurations. As above, the portions are only an estimate - these are for dessert servings - double these for finger-sized servings.  The price is for a vanilla sponge cake covered with chocolate buttercream, ganache and sugarpaste/fondant icing.  Decorations will cost extra depending on the complexity of the designs.
